The Down Syndrome Association of Hamilton is hosting their 1st Annal Buddy Walk on Sunday September 29th, 2013, from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm.

The “Buddy Walk” was first organized by the National Down Syndrome Association in the USA to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down Syndrome.  It is call a “buddy walk” as the intention is for a person with Down Syndrome to have a “buddy to walk with during this fundraising event.

Whether you know someone who has Down Syndrome or just want to show your support, come and join them! While their event is free, we are asking participants to raise or donate a minimum or $10.00 per walker, to cover cost incurred with putting together this community event.

Their goal, in organizing a Buddy Walk, is to increase the level of awareness, understanding and acceptance for Down syndrome within the Hamilton community.  Their aim is to have 300 walkers join them that day, and they are hopeful that they will be surprised by potentially exceeding that number!
