The Ancaster Horticultural Society will hold its meeting on Tuesday April 15th, 2014  at the Ancaster Old Town Hall, 310 Wilson St. E. in Ancaster. A coffee & tea refreshment social begins at 7:30 pm followed by the meeting at 8:00 pm. The society welcomes guest speaker Jodi (Vanderheyden) Healy, Curator of Annual Display and Plant Documentation at the Royal Botanical Gardens and her presentation is: “Designing with Vegetables”. Jodi is responsible for plant records at the Royal Botanical Gardens and the Veggie Village demonstrative garden. An avid organic gardener, Jodi offers growing advice and loves to get people excited about eating local.
Jodi is a graduate of The University of Guelph Plant Biology program. With experience in interior plantscape design, exterior landscape and floral design she contributes to many aspects of the horticulture department. On any given day you will find her making maps & labels, sifting through seed catalogues, or working with the garden staff to create a stunning display. Jodi has a special interest in the planning and implementation of Veggie Village: 100 mile produce gardens, a display garden at the RBG showcasing the many ways in which you can grow vegetables at home.
She has just been named Manager of the Gardens at RBG. Along with her other duties she is now overseeing the gardens being renovated at the Rock Garden. Jodi has recently married and her last name is now Healy.

All are welcome to attend monthly meetings. Admission is free. Registration is not required.
