The Ancaster Horticultural Society will meet on Tuesday June 17th, 2014 at the Ryerson United Church – Fireside Room – 265 Wilson Street East Ancaster. A coffee and tea social starts at 7:30 pm followed by the meeting at 8pm. This month the Society welcomes Darren Heimbecker who will bring us up-to-date on “What’s New at Whistling Gardens!”.
Darren Heimbecker is the owner and creative force behind Whistling Gardens, Canada’s newest botanical garden.

Almost 20 acres have been cultivated and sculpted into six major gardens and collections. All the gardens have been seamlessly connected with wheelchair accessible walking paths. Whistling Gardens is home to the largest public collection of conifers in the world with over 2,500 species, hybrids and cultivars on site. So much to see and explore… including many rock gardens, fountains, waterfalls and a two acre pond.

Darren worked as a propagator, shipper and field manager for 18 years before setting out on his own. Darren has a passion for conifers and his gardens reflect it. His garden centre is an invaluable destination for plant collectors.

As a special bonus, Mr. Heimbecker himself will give a one hour guided tour of Whistling Gardens on Friday June 20th, at 11:00am to Ancaster Horticultural Society members, their family and friends. In addition Mr. Heimbecker is discounting the regular price of Admission/Guided Tour of the gardens- a regular cost of $25.00 per person- for ONLY $11.00 pp including tax… That’s $14.00 off the regular price! The discount is extended to all Ancaster Horticultural Society members, their family and friends. Transportation is not included. Those interested in joining the Society must carpool or drive themselve to the Gardens.

All are welcome to attend Ancaster Horticultural Society meetings. Admission is free. Registration is not required.
