The Ancaster Horticultural Society is thrilled to welcome Master Gardener, Dan Cooper to speak at this month’s meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday March 18th, 2014 at the Ancaster Old Town Hall, 310 Wilson Street E., Ancaster. A refreshment social begins at 7:30 pm followed by the meeting at 8:00 pm.

Dan Cooper is the co-author of Gardening from a Hammock, a book on low-maintenance gardening that features the gardens and advice of 17 well-known garden landscapers, experts and designers. As a landscape designer, Dan specializes in shade gardens and organic gardening, he is also the owner of Green Gardens and Tours, a company that provides garden design, advice and tours to exotic gardens. An avid world traveller, Dan is also a published travel writer and photographer who has written about and photographed gardens he’s visited in North and South America, South-east Asia, Australasia, China and India.

His photos have appeared in the Toronto Star, Smithsonian, the Lonely Planet websites, Trip Advisor, Delta Vacations, Flight Centre, WestJet, Hotwire, Taca Airlines, International Living, 50Plus magazine, Reader’s Digest, “Transitions Abroad” and RCI’s “Endless Vacation” magazines, to name a few.

Dan is a member of the Garden Writers Association and his articles have appeared in the 50Plus magazine and website, the “Transitions Abroad” Travel magazine, “Trellis” the Toronto Botanical Garden’s magazine, Ontario Gardener, Canadian Organic Grower, and in Australia’s national newspaper “The Australian.”
