The Ancaster Horticultural Society meets on Tuesday, April 18th, 2017 at Ancaster Old Town Hall. A coffee/tea social begins at 7:30 p.m. followed by the meeting at 8:00 p.m. The Society welcomes freelance writer, editor & digital consultant Tara Nolan. Tara is also co-founder of the popular gardening website Savvy Gardening and her topic is: “Gardening in the Future with Raised Beds”.

Tara’s first book, Raised Bed Revolution was published by Cool Springs Press in May of 2016. Her book is about the fastest-growing garden strategy today and Raised Bed Revolution is its ultimate guidebook! Ms. Nolan resides in Dundas, ON., studied at McMaster University and Centennial College where she studied Book & Magazine Publishing. For the past 15 years, her diverse writing interests have included topics such as gardening, travel, health & fitness, mountain biking & cycling and décor. Her most recent articles have appeared in: The Guardian, Toronto Star, Canadian Cycling, Zoomer, Garden Making, Canadian Living, Ensemble Vacations and she is currently writing for The Canadian Garden Council. Her website launches include Canadian Gardening, Canadian Home & Country, Canadian Home Workshop, Toronto Botanical Garden, Yahoo! Canada Lifestyle and Microsoft Home Magazine. Tara is also an award-winning online editor of CanadianGardening.com for almost six years. She won a Canadian Online Publishing Award for the Seed to Supper Newsletter.

In 2012, Nolan took her gardening knowledge on the road and presents to garden clubs, horticultural societies, shows, festivals, libraries and municipalities. She has spoken at Canada Blooms, Stratford Garden Festival, Peterborough Garden Show, City of Guelph, Region of Waterloo, McMaster University and more.
