Ancaster Horticultural Society’s next meeting is Tuesday June 20th, at Ancaster Old Town Hall, 310 Wilson St. E., Ancaster, ON. L9G 2B9. A coffee and tea social begins at 7:30 pm followed by the meeting. The Society welcomes Lizzie Matheson and her topic is, “The Pleasure Is Mine”. Lizzie Matheson is a Teacher/Assessor and Demonstrator of Floral Art & Design. She is also a qualified U.K. Accredited Judge. Born in Scotland, Lizzie relocated with her husband to Wiltshire England in 1984. She pursued her passion at Swindon College studying under the tutorship of Mavis Brooker, Mariann Aaronson and Michael Burgess of Lackham College. Her degree level study over 7 years covered a vast area of floral design that incorporated 14 Period Histories. Alongside her studies Lizzie also became a qualified Tutor/Assessor at Oxford Brookes College. Lizzie continued to teach at Swindon College for the next 20 years. In 2010 Lizzie moved to Ontario and, as a keen gardener, is working on the challenges of gardening Canadian Style. Lizzy is hoping to spark real interest in our “Annual Flower & Photo Show and Afternoon Tea” which will be held on Saturday July 22nd, 2017. She will create three designs from the Show’s Design Category and these beautifully created designs will be raffled off at the end of the meeting.
