Eat Local (Produce Edition)
Who doesn’t want to try to eat local when they can. Ancaster has many great farms where you can buy local and some organic fruits and vegetables. Below is just a small sampling.
Allows people to buy a share of locally grown vegetables. A season typically consists of 25 weeks. Shares can be picked up at the farm or delivered to your home. Some of the vegetables they grow are arugula, baby greens, beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, kale, garlic, spinach etc… They are located on Hwy #52 in Copetown.
Located at 944 Garner Road East, the market is open year round offering fresh produce, baked good, gifts and of course apples. November 1 – April 30 hours are: 8am-6pm (Monday-Friday) Saturday: 8am-6pm
May 1 – October 30 hours are: 8am-8pm (Monday-Friday) Saturday: 8am-6pm
Located at 2194 Shaver Rd S they are open February to December, Tues to Sat 8am – 6pm and Sundays 11am – 5pm. They offer local and Canadian made products. An array of gourmet foods and home-made preserves as well as honey harvested from hives right on the farm. They offer pick your own apples starting in September.
Located at 900 Fiddler’s Green Road Lindleys is open from June to October Lindleys offers local pick your own strawberries. This year they will be offering a full line of their own vegetables and some fruit grown right on the farm.
Posh Nosh is a specialty vegetable farm at 383 Book Road West is open from 10am to Dusk – 7 Days a week, starting in late June earl July depending on mother nature.
