Come dance with the Ancaster Horticultural Society at their annal Flower, Vegetable, and Photo Show. There won’t be any actual dancing however, the theme this year is “Dancing in the Garden”. The show is scheduled for Saturday August 17th, 2013 between 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm at the Ancaster Old Town Hall, 300 Wilson Street East, with admission being only $8.00 which includes afternoon Tea, Coffee, Sandwiches and Door Prizes.

Entries will be accepted from 8:45 am to 10:30 am. Late entries will not be accepted.

The Design Division will include miniature arrangements such as:
“Romeo and Juliette–a ballet”; or the green monochromatic arrangement called “Riverdance–an Irish Jig”.

There is a category for beginners who have never entered before call “Grenada–the Flamenco” (an arrangement emphasizing colour). As always , the Society is eager to see some new talent on display.

If photography is more your groove thing, enter a favourite photo in one of the 4 classes in the popular photo division:

  • “Bollywood–indian Summer” (a fall scene of red and gold)
  • “The waltz of the Flowers” (a close-up of an individual flower)
  • “The Charleston–Has Anybody Seen My Gal?” (a natural landscape in black and white)
  • “Tap Dance–Singing in the Rain” (a photo which includes water)

As usual, all your gardens’s flowers and vegetables can be entered in the individual classes listed in the Show Schedule.  The show Schedule and complete list of Rules Governing Design and Specimen Classes may be obtained by contacting one of the Show conveners listed below.

All divisions will be judged by professional judges from the OHA and the photography disciplines.

All Society members in good standing are eligible to enter the show for chances to win ribbons, cash and trophies. Also included in the admission price are door prizes and a ‘not to be missed’ Afternoon Tea of unlimited Tea, Coffee, and an assortment of Sandwiches and Treats commencing at 2:00 pm.

Volunteers are welcome to help with the set up on Friday August 16th, 2013 at 5:00 pm to make sandwiches and/or serve tea, to assist judges or to assist with clean up.
