Color Cabin Art Camp Welcomes Kids Ages 7+
Looking for an awesome art experience for your kids to try this summer? Try Color Cabin! We dabble in a bit of everything; from paper-mache, water-color works, to the classic tie-die, moulding and sculpting, jewellery making, cartoons, pencil sketching, mini-architecture models, acrylic painting on canvas and much more!
We still have lots of space available in our art day camps, which run Monday to Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. We offer two age groups called “Cabin 1: Ages 7-9” and “Cabin 2: Ages 9+”, which alternate weekly sessions starting with C1 on July 3rd and running until August 24th, 2012. Sign up for a few weeks or try out a day! We change it up every week, so we encourage families to sign up for a couple sessions and receive a discount. We are located at 245 Garner Road West, inside Tapply Binet College which neighbours Bishop Tonnos Catholic Secondary school.
How did Color Cabin start? Thanks so to the government program called “Summer Company” young entrepreneurs in Hamilton were given the opportunity to start their own small businesses. “Its a competitive and exciting process. We (the selected students) were required to make a comprehensive business plan, go through interviews and business training, as well as attend bi-weekly mentorship session that continue throughout the summer” says camp founder, Jessica Vanvliet. Jessica’s dream of running a children’s art camp became a reality when she got accepted into the program. “Summer Company and the individuals at the Small Business Enterprise Centre in Hamilton have are extremely supportive and knowledgable in small business start-ups, I couldn’t have done it without them.” Jessica’s background in both child care and visual arts, combined with her college Diploma in Business Studies has proven to be a solid foundation for starting Color Cabin Art Camp.
Color Cabin invites everyone in the community to their first annual open house Saturday June 30th from 1:00pm-4:00pm to check out the facilities and meet the art instructor! It is going to be fun for the whole family.
Enjoy the summer!
